Sunrisers Hyderabad have signed promising seam-bowling all-rounder RS Ambrish as an injury replacement for Shivam Mavi for the remainder of the Indian Premier League 2026 season.

Right-arm pacer Mavi has been ruled out due to a groin injury, prompting SRH to bring in Ambrish, who joins the squad for INR 30 lakh.

“Ambrish, who is a right-arm medium pacer and a left-handed batter, will join SRH for INR 30 lakh,” said a statement from the IPL on Friday.

The Chennai-based all-rounder rose to prominence during ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cup 2026, where he played a key role in India’s title-winning campaign held in Zimbabwe and Namibia.

Ambrish finished as India’s joint-highest wicket-taker with 11 scalps, underlining his impact with the ball while also offering depth as a left-handed batter.

Regarded as one of the emerging talents in India’s domestic circuit, Ambrish’s dual skillset strengthens SRH’s options as the tournament enters a crucial phase.

SRH have been active in the replacement market this season. The franchise earlier roped in Gerald Coetzee and Dilshan Madushanka to bolster their pace attack amid a series of injuries.

Coetzee was brought in as a replacement for David Payne, who was ruled out with an ankle injury after himself replacing Jack Edwards, sidelined with a foot issue. Meanwhile, Madushanka replaced Brydon Carse following a hand injury sustained in the nets.

The 2016 champions are currently on a five-match winning streak and sit third on the points table. The Pat Cummins-led side will next face Kolkata Knight Riders at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Sunday.
